The extraction of volcanic material at Dachsbusch ate deeper and deeper into the old cinder cone. It gives us an insight into the volcanic and climatic history of the past. The volcanic layers show how they slipped during a cold period around 150,000 years ago due to the alternation of thawing and freezing.
The badger bush need not fear further quarrying, as the area is now a nature reserve. Follow the signposted path on the right up to the sliding fold, where you will find more information.
On the way back, you can enjoy a unique view of the Wehrer Kessel, a volcanic caldera and the volcanic structures of the Tiefenstein and Meirother Kopf behind the village of Wehr.
